Cape SAJBD and eNCA Election Debate
10 October, 2021 @ 8:00 pm : 9:00 pm UTC+2
Free
Join us LIVE on eNCA at 20:00 on Sunday, 10 October as Sally Burdett discusses the “game plan” our front-running political parties have for the Western Cape!
The Cape SAJBD acts to protect and advance the rights, status and welfare of the Western Cape Jewish community, by representing it when engaging with government, media and public institutions. We believe it is not only the responsibility of communal organisations to lobby change, but that as an individual, you can and should play a role as an active citizen in your community!
Local Government Elections provides everyone with an opportunity to be heard, to vote in their preferred representation in local Council and to have their say on issues affecting the community. If you complain about services in your area, you should do something about it! Engage with your local Council in public forums, or contact your ward councillor, and most importantly vote in the upcoming election. Local Council is responsible for keeping our streets clean, our rubbish removed, our lights switched on, and our water systems operating. It is our first recourse when we experience a disruption to our everyday life, therefore it should be held accountable for developing, supporting and strengthening its community.
We have partnered with eNCA as part of our Votes Matter Campaign, to give representatives of the front-running political parties in the Western Cape, a platform to discuss their parties “game plan” for service delivery, social justice and communal growth. A key role of the Cape SAJBD is to educate and empower our community. We hope, hearing directly from the DA, ANC, ACDP, GOOD and VF Plus, will allow our community and greater SA society to ensure their vote on 1 November, is an informed one.
We have also created a Local Government Election Education Brochure available here to explain what local government is, how it functions, how to get involved with it and most importantly how to cast your vote on voting day! You can also follow our ‘Votes Matter’ campaign on Facebook and Instagram.
Being active citizens and making a difference in society, requires us to get involved in our community and democracy at all levels of government. Use your voice on voting day, your votes matter!
