Stand for Election to the Cape SAJBD
The Cape South African Jewish Board of Deputies (Cape SAJBD) is the representative voice of the Western Cape Jewish community. For 120 years, we have protected our civil rights, defended our way of life, and fought antisemitism wherever it appears.
Now, it’s your turn to lead.
We are excited to announce that nominations are now open for the Cape SAJBD 2025 Biennial Elections. Note there are two ballots; Public and Affiliate Ballots respectively;
• 5 members will be elected via the Public ballot by public vote • 10 members will be elected by delegates of our affiliated organisations via the Affiliate Ballot at our Annual General Meeting. This will present us with a new Board made up of 15 members to serve for two (2) years (2025- 2027). Community members can choose which of the two ballots they wish to stand on and should choose the ballot on which they feel they would have the best opportunity for election.
Why stand?
We’re calling on leaders who: • Are passionate about the Jewish community in the Western Cape; • Bring legal, business, media or marketing skills to the table • Possess integrity, courage, and a sense of responsibility; • Seek to make a meaningful difference
How it works:
All Jewish adults (18+) in the Western Cape whose names appear on the communal register are eligible to nominate and vote.
Ready to make a difference?
Nominations are entirely digital. Each nominee is required to click below and complete the nomination form: 👉 SUBMIT A NOMINATION FORM HERE
Each nominee must: • Be supported by two nominators; • Complete a short nomination form with full details; • Accept the Board’s Code of Conduct
*Each nomination form requires the full names, ID number, residential address, email address and contact number of the nominee, to be supported by the same details of two nominators. Thus, each nomination form lists three people: One (1) nominee, and two (2) people who support the nomination. Anyone making a nomination is responsible to gather this information themselves before filling in the form.
Nominations close on 26 June 2025. Don’t miss your chance to shape the leadership of our Jewish community.
*No nomination forms may be accepted after the advertised closing date. All nominees are then vetted by the Electoral Commission to confirm the nominees’ and nominators’ names appear on the communal database, before being placed on the final nominee roll.
